Thanks for visiting our website!

Little Bow Wow Rescue is a 501c3 non profit organization that has been saving lives since 2002.

In 2012, in honor of Little Bow Wow's 10th Anniversary, our mission's focus is moving toward our sanctuary program - Hazel House.

We will continue to rescue and re-home adoptable dogs, but on a much smaller scale. It seems that in today's world thanks to the internet and public awareness there are many new dog rescue groups starting up all over the country dedicated to rescuing and re-homing adoptable dogs.

We feel that the greater need in rescue work today is for sanctuary based programs who take in and provide long term care for all of the special needs and senior dogs that end up in shelters and impound facilities slated for euthanazia because they are not considered adoptable.

Please visit our Hazel House page to read more about the program. We are very excited about this new adventure!

We have some very sad news...on February 14th we said good-bye to our beloved Hazel. In January her heart condition worsened - she was having more coughing episodes and the medication she was on didn't seem to be helping as much. In early Feb. she had a seizure. We spent the next week monitoring her closely fearing that another seizure would occur, and had her into the vet to determine if the seizure was related to her heart condition. The seizure was not heart related, but we did find out that her heart was extremely enlarged and that additional medication would not help her condition. The vet said that her heart was so enlarged that soon there wouldn't be much room in her chest for anything else. The coughing episodes were due to her heart pushing up on her trachea. We knew that it was time - we did not want her to suffer trying to breathe, or to die during a seizure episode. We spent the next several days spoiling her and saying our good-byes.
Hazel was a very special dog - she loved everyone she met and because of her, many special needs and senior dogs who would have been euthanized in shelters have been given a safe place to spend their golden years.
We still can't believe she is gone - she will live on in our hearts forever.
